Pre-Owned Honda Fit at Honda of Tiffany Springs near Kansas City, MO
The subcompact Honda Fit competes with the Hyundai Accent, Scion xD and Toyota Yaris. It serves as Honda's entry level model but has an aggressive design that Honda describes as "super forward aero form." A versatile, configurable interior is one of the Fit's highlights, and it has room for up to 5 people.
The Fit has one engine: a 109-hp, 1.5 liter 4-cylinder. It combines with a 5-speed manual as standard equipment, and a 5-speed automatic is available. The automatic is rated at 27 mpg in the city and 33 on the highway for Sport models; base models with the automatic transmission get 27/34 mpg city/highway. Manual models get 28/34 mpg city/highway.
Design of Honda Fit
To account for the base of the windshield being several inches farther forward, Honda incorporated a large sail-shaped window into each A-pillar that visually extends the side windows forward of the front doors. It's a peculiar look, but it improves visibility. The Fit is large on the inside for such a small car. The interior volume has increased in the new generation, adding backseat legroom and overall cargo capacity. The materials aren't markedly higher in quality than the previous generation's, but that car was already among the best-appointed in its class. New interior options include Honda's touch-screen navigation system and a USB port for accessing iPods and simple flash drives through the stereo.
The Fit employs Honda's Advanced Compatibility Engineering, a body structure designed to engage the crumple zones of taller vehicles optimally in a collision. Standard safety features include anti-lock brakes, active front head restraints, front seat side impact airbags, curtain airbags that cover the side windows (front and rear), and an optional electronic stability system.
