Awards and Accolades
Over the years, the Accord has won numerous prestigious awards in the automobile industry. But we designed the Accord for everyday people, not industry analysts, so it was especially gratifying to be honored with an Edmunds' Inside Line 2009 Readers' Most WantedSM Vehicle Award[1]. The Accord was singled out as the most wanted vehicle in the "Family Under $30,000”category. Here’s what a few readers had to say about it: "Because it's a standard of quality and reliability and that's what a family car should be." "Best family sedan on the planet." Comments like these from people like you make this one of the "Most Wanted" awards that we’ve ever received.[1] "Readers’ Most Wanted" is a proprietary trademark of Edmunds.com, Inc.
In its January 1983 issue, Car and Driver chose the Accord to be on their first-ever 10Best Cars list. In their article, they called the Accord, "a remarkable automobile from a remarkable automobile… company."[2] In their January 2009 issue, Car and Driver said, "it’s clear; 27 years later, that praise still applies."[3] They call the Accord a "mainstream pacesetter… [with] crisp responses and exacting path accuracy that have always made Accords so satisfying to drive[3]." Twenty-three 10Best awards in 27 years—only the amazing Accord.[2] Car and Driver, January 1983

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has rated the 2010 Accord Sedan five stars (its highest rating) for both driver and front passenger in the frontal-crash test[4]. These frontal crash-test ratings are a testament to the advanced safety engineering that comes standard on every Accord.[4] Government star ratings are part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA's) New Car Assessment Program (www.safercar.gov)
In 2008, Yahoo! created a brand-new award to recognize the number-one
car on Yahoo! Autos. The criteria were user interest, intent and
satisfaction, and the winner was the Honda Accord Sedan. Yahoo! noted
that "[w]hile the head-turning styling and spirited performance appeal
to the senses, other amenities of the Accord Sedan address rational
concerns. Besides Honda's emphasis on great efficiency, the Accord
boasts numerous standard safety features, including electronic
stability control, six airbags and anti-lock brakes."
Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com has honored Honda with its 2009 Best Resale Value Award in the Brand category. Honda has a long history of environmental leadership, including the introduction of America's first mass-produced hybrid,
the Honda Insight, and the first vehicle to meet California’s Low-Emission Vehicle standards, well in advance of regulatory
requirements. Acknowledgment of our commitment to innovation can be seen by Honda’s topping the rankings as the country’s
greenest automaker by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS)- for the fourth time in a row[5].[5] Based on a 2007 U.S. emissions study by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS).
